Odd Jobs - side quests for Forbidden Psalm campaigns & Würm Moon - a unique new scenario

Odd Jobs & Würm Moon

Odd Jobs

Odd jobs is a side quest system for Forbidden Psalm.
Here is a high-res preview with the first 9 jobs you can use to try out the system.
You can get the full version with 27 total odd jobs at:
or

This was designed for my own 4 player campaign that I am running, as we prefer to reduce the amount of models in a scenario for the sake of brevity. It is great for 3p or 4p. You could also use this in a solo or 2p campaign provided both parties have Inn Upgrades or just agree to each leave one model out of the following scenario.

Included is a version you can print and sleeve to create an odd job deck, instead of rolling for a job.

Here is a beta draft of those cards.

As an exercise in design, below is the original design draft of the rules. This is when I decided that I had to overhaul it to look more like a Mork Borg supplement than a traditional RPG. This look may be more suited for a western theme.

Würm Moon

Alongside of Odd Jobs I am also releasing Würm Moon, a new  and unique scenario for Forbidden Psalm and the conclusion (or prequel) to the suspicious farmer trilogy. Featuring 2 new monsters.

You can pick up Würm Moon here:

Bloodstained weapons for Forbidden Psalm

My creative focus has been on tabletop wargaming and miniatures games for a while. I decided to start posting here again, some previews and free content.

Today is bloody supplement for Forbidden Psalm, the Mörk Borg based tabletop miniatures game  that I am currently running.

Bloodstained Weapons

I recommend using a red colored pencil to tick next to each weapon to track bloodstained. Or use the blood of your enemies 🩸🩸🩸.

These weapons and the story of the suspicious farmer go hand in hand with the next upcoming post, Odd Jobs, which are like side quests for your models.

Strange New World: The Woetree

The Woetree is a species of enormous dead-looking trees with roots reaching miles into the Underworld where they drink upon souls for nourishment.

Parasitic boring maggots fester upon the tree, suckling upon the souls within the tree until they grow into a carrion crawling two-headed worm beast. When the corpse crawlers kill sentient creatures they harvest the creature's soul, process it in their guts and store it inside of the tree by spitting up a smoky greenish-blue sap-like substance. When enough souls (roughly 1 soul per foot of the Woetree's height) are stored within the sap, a skull-shaped seed will grow within the upper roots - to be later harvested by cultists. The Death Gods of Xibalba have their cults (particularly the cults of Hun-Came ("One Death") and Vucub-Came ("Seven Death")) plant these seeds along necrotic ley-lines around the world.

Corpse Crawler
Many-legged, segmented worm stretching 9' long. A human-looking face on both ends of its body with two pairs of four tentacles stretching from their inside their mouths.

HD 3+2 (17hp), Speed x1 human
(walk or climb walls and ceilings)
AC as Leather, Intelligence 2, Morale 9
No. Appearing d3, Classification Bogey

-Actions-
Paralyzing tentacles x8 (4 from each end), +3 to hit, causes paralysis for 2d4 Turns (10-minutes) (save versus paralysis). Paralyzed victims will be level-drained (1 level/round) if the corpse crawler is left to feed.

-Defense-
A Corpse Crawler's two-headed nature means they are unable to be back-stabbed.

-Maggots-
Corpse Crawler maggots have 1HP; they do not attack other creatures but incidental contact can call for a save vs paralysis. Each tree hosts 2d20 maggots.

Strange New World: Wardens, a class inspired by The Witcher

In celebration of The Witcher series launching on Netflix, I am releasing the LotfP / BX / OSR-compatible Warden class from the Strange New World: Gazetteer in full.

Wardens are very much inspired by The Witcher, they are "Guardians - avowed by oaths, scarred by sacred tattoos and acquiesced by both crowns and religions - who use a narrow form of magic known as signs, against the strange and fearsome horrors of the new world."

So, You Killed a Santa... What's In His Sack?

“Der Belsnickel!” screamed the children as they ran from the frightening creature!

Belsnickel is one of the many dark gift-giving companions of Saint Nicholas. A disheveled, crotchety bearded man, wearing stinking furs and a devilish mask with a long tongue. His limbs are long and his body is ragged, covered in tattered and dirty clothes. He carries a long hazel switch with him, which to beat naughty children. But also a sack full of gifts - nuts and candies for good children which he will toss on the floor. If the children jump too quickly they may be struck by Belsnickel's switch.

-Belsnickel-
HD 6+1 (34hp), Speed x1 human, AC as Leather+2
Intelligence as Santa Klaus, Morale 11

-Actions-

  • Toss Candy, Belsnickel throws a handful of candied nuts and fruits to the floor. Save or be lured by the candy, forced to move towards it at normal speed. If lured into range of his switch, Belsnickel may immediately attack. If Belsnickel looks for more candy, roll a d6 (-1 for each round since Belsnickel last tossed candy) he succeeds on a 1.
  • Hazel Switch x2, +6 to hit / d4 damage (2d4 vs naughty creatures)

There is a 50% chance when encountering Belsnickel that there is a boy (1HD) named Black Peter assisting him.

Strange New World: Damps - Weaponized Vapors

Check out the final preview for the Strange New World Gazetteer: Volume 1.

Damps (from the Middle Low German word dampf, meaning "vapour") are heavy gases that can be weaponized. Found throughout the New World in such frequency that adventurers have begun using them in the fight against the beasts and horrors of the strange frontier. Damps are gathered from various sources where they might form naturally or even supernaturally.  They are mostly invisible and may be found in enclosed environments such as basements, sewers, wells, tunnels and ships' holds. Or extracted from gaseous veins and volatile vapor pockets inside caves and mines. Perhaps one of the greatest sources of damp vapours are the perilous black swamps where toxic marsh gases linger.

Curse of Strahd Remixed: Bog Mummies and Huecuva

Today we have two new conversions of some older edition undead monsters. The swamp marsh dwelling Bog Mummy and the cursed undead priests known as Huecuva (who first appeared in the original Fiend Folio).

Bog Mummy

Bog mummy img2Wherever a spark of unlife or negative energy touches a corpse naturally preserved by swamp mud, the result is a bog mummy. Bog mummies are always found roaming the place where they arose, and very rarely venture from it.

In the Ivlis Marsh of Barovia, the powerful hag-mother, Baba Lysaga, provides the spark of negative energy needed to create bog mummies. The skin of the bog mummy is leathery, tanned by the mild acid of the peat bog. It is clothed in tattered rags, and the remains of the thongs that bound its hands and the strangling cord that bit deeply into its neck dangle from its body. The monster has incredible strength and its rotting slam attacks are powerful.

1d6: Magic Gypsy Candles

Here are six new magic items for D&D (5e, but really they can be inserted easily into any edition or any other fantasy RPG), magic candles (and one magical incense)!

white candleThe gypsy folk known as the Vistani, traveling people living under the protection of Count Strahd von Zerovich in the Domain of Barovia, have very glamorous and mystic ways about them. They carry magical trinkets, potions and other treasures. Among their precious mystical arsenal you will find a varied selection of enchanted candles. Magic candles, like most gypsy treasures, seem most ordinary and do not reveal their magical nature easily. These candles usually work their magic in the area of the candle flame’s light though some rely on the candle’s smoke for their magical effect. Magic candles may be snuffed and their magical effects used again later. The Vistani will never openly share these candles nor will they ever reveal the exceptional secrets behind imbuing spells into wax.

Curse of Strahd Remixed: Strahd Skeletons and Vargouilles

Two conversions to 5e. First, from Ravenloft: Realm of Terror, Strahd’s personal skeleton minions. A nice complement to the Strahd zombies already presented in Curse of Strahd, they are the same CR and you could very easily swap them in their place.

Strahd skeletons are magically animated undead monsters, created as guardians or warriors by Count Strahd Von Zarovich, the vampire lord of Barovia.

Strahd Skeleton imgUnlike common skeletons, Strahd’s creatures still bear bits of leathery flesh, as well as shreds of clothing. Otherwise, they are nothing but bones. Their motions are swift but jerky. In the blink of an eye, they can attain full speed from a dead stop. They have no odor other than the faint suggestions of dust and freshly dug earth.

Curse of Strahd Remixed: Undead Swarms

Two ravenous unliving swarms for your Curse of Strahd game or anytime you want to pop in a little undead variation into a game. These conversions are originally from Libris Mortis: The Book of the Undead.  First we have the blood draining Bloodmote Cloud (CR6) and then we have a diseased Swarm of Bone Rats (CR2) to chew through the party.

Curse of Strahd Remixed: 50 New Gothic Trinkets

The release of Curse of Strahd is upon us and I am going to be posting some of my own creations for this campaign. To start out with I have come up with another trinket table, this time we have 50 new gothic trinkets to match the 50 released by WotC. You can combine them to do a full 100 or just roll on either table seperately. You could also use this as a random table for interesting treasures in any fantasy or gothic horror game.
  1. A heavy iron key to cemetary gates.
  2. A box with a small hole when peered in reveals a grotesque version of your surroundings.
  3. A candle that casts twisted and disturbing shadows.
  4. A wooden stake carved with icons of different deities.

1d10: New Ioun Stones

I love Ioun stones, who doesn't right? They are classic, cool D&D magic items. No item slot needed just throw it up in the air and let it go to work gravitating around your noggin.

Ioun Stone

Wondrous item, rarity varies (Rare, Very Rare and Legendary require attunement)

An Ioun stone is named after Ioun, a god of knowledge and prophecy revered on some worlds. Many types of Ioun stone exist, each type a distinct combination of shape and color.
